Mailchimp is included on every Quinn plan, including Free. You can connect it alongside Klaviyo or Omnisend. Mailchimp’s own paid plans may be needed for automation features; event-triggered automations require a paid Mailchimp plan.
- Create an audience in Mailchimp if you do not have one. Leave room for six custom audience fields. You can use an existing audience; Quinn does not create an audience for you.
- In your Mailchimp account, create an API key. Copy the entire key, including the data center suffix such as -us21. Keep the key private.
- Open Integrations in Quinn and choose Mailchimp. Paste the key into Private API key, then choose Load audiences.
- Select the audience that should receive your leads, then connect. The connection check verifies the audience and prepares six private text fields. It creates no test subscriber or event.
- The option Also send quiz takers who haven’t agreed to email marketing starts off. Leave it off to send only quiz takers who agreed to marketing. Enable it only if you also want those leads sent. New contacts are Non-subscribed; existing subscriptions are preserved.
- Complete a published quiz on your storefront and submit an email. In Mailchimp, open the selected audience, find the contact and inspect its profile fields and activity. Preview mode sends nothing.
Non-subscribed contacts count toward Mailchimp’s contact limit and can increase your bill. See how Mailchimp counts Non-subscribed contacts.
After connecting, change the checkbox and choose Save preferences to save without entering your key again.
What arrives
For leads allowed by your setting, Quinn adds or updates the member by email. Six private text merge fields hold the latest quiz data: QNQUIZ (quiz title), QNANSWER (answers), QNPRODS (recommended products), QNNAME (name), QNPHONE (phone), and QNCONSNT (granted, declined or unknown email consent). Each field is limited to 255 UTF-8 bytes; longer data is shortened without breaking a character. The quinn_quiz_completed event contains additional completion details as text properties.
Use the fields in segments, and the event in supported Mailchimp automations. Fields describe the latest quiz for that member in this audience. If you have several quizzes, their latest results share these fields. Disconnect and reconnect to choose a different audience.
Consent
By default, only quiz takers with recorded marketing consent are sent. If you enable the option to also send others, new contacts are added as Non-subscribed. Sending a contact does not grant marketing permission, and an existing subscriber’s status is preserved. Turning the option on does not backfill previously skipped leads. A phone number is saved as text only and never subscribes anyone to SMS.
Check delivery or disconnect
The Mailchimp card shows connection checks separately from real quiz deliveries. If the audience has no free field slots or a Quinn field has a conflicting type, fix the fields in Mailchimp and test again. A rejected key stops further deliveries until you reconnect with a working key.
If event acceptance could not be confirmed, check the contact’s activity before retrying. Mailchimp does not document an event idempotency key. Quinn avoids automatically resending an event after an ambiguous timeout.
Choose Disconnect and confirm to delete the saved encrypted key and stop new deliveries. Contacts and events already sent stay in Mailchimp.
